The world around me is fascinating. The plasticity of it makes me believe that reality is not fixed and unchanging. Sometimes I find or come up with things that I consider worth sharing on the topic.

Stopping Windows 10 Home Upgrade

Posted as several people have enquired and I’ve seen several more seeking.

This is what worked for me, informed by a couple of sources on the net. I cannot be held responsible if it destabilises or kills your computer. Use at your own risk.

Presuming that you have cancelled your reservation for Windows 10 already.

Uninstall updates KB3035583, KB2990214, and KB2952664. The first two were mentioned by other users as connected with the Windows 10 upgrade. The third seems to appear around the time Windows 10 has downloaded and is ready to install.

** The important thing is to ensure these updates are not reinstalled or even left as options to install **

When you go to Windows Update and it prompts you to start installing your Windows 10 upgrade, start by viewing Installed Updates – there will be a LOT (over 300 on my machine). There is no sort or search, you’ll have to manually scroll through the list (expand the window to full screen and widen the install name until you can see the update number). Then select and uninstall the three updates mentioned above.

Ignore the reboot prompt until all three are uninstalled, then reboot.

When the system comes back up, go into Windows Update again, ignore the Windows 10 install, choose the ‘see other updates’ option, on the left just under the update text box.

You’ll see whatever updates are pending, plus the three you uninstalled, and Windows 10 will be under the optional tab but ticked for install.

Right click on each of these four items and choose ‘Hide Update’ from the menu.

Now install any other updates you have outstanding, reboot, and you should be done.

I’ve seen some notes on the net regarding the service process TrustedInstaller.exe running in background. This process can NOT be ended via Windows Task Manager. It also has files installed that cannot be deleted without permission from TrustedInstaller which is above any Administrator and System privileges. These files are in the hidden C:\$Windows.~BT folder.

Other notes seem to indicate that this process will, eventually, quit. I have not had issues with it myself.

If I Could Have One Wish –

Just one. 🙂

I would wish for every person in the whole world to have a month of knowing when anyone is not telling the truth, whether directly or via any form of media; and including themselves.

That should sort many things out – messily but effectively – and clearing up the aftermath would provide a chance to rebuild this ruin we call civilisation.

Standing outside, watching a crow on a TV aerial across the way, silhouetted against the late afternoon sky. Black on black, like a 2D cut out in the animate shape of a crow straight through my perception of sky and reality into the void beyond.

VWE – “Vanishes Without Electricity” – There are many scientists who claim no advanced civilizations existed on earth because of the lack of archaeological evidence… Look at todays civilisation. Look at how much we have converted to digital files. If the electricity stopped, what would you have left? In twenty years, what would we leave as a technological footprint?

Reality, Part Y

If reality is truly subjective then perception is everything. Thus one must allow for being defined by other’s perceptions of you. Are we all Schrodinger’s Cats in our boxes of individual existence? Of course, has anyone ever theorised what Schrodinger’s cat sees? Is it in the box believing that it’s universe is the cubicle it is confined in? Or does it postulate of many realities outside?

Possibly the use of a cat in this example is flawed, as a cat would merely wait for its denoument with apparent indifference. Then again, has the beast decided to remain in safety lest the opening of the box reveals a reality where the opener’s perceptions expect a dead cat? Thus a conflict of realities occurs where will or majority triumphs? This is the crux. If the subjectivity argument is true then we are all guilty of tacitly ignoring the exit from our respective boxes for fear of a wider reality being detrimental to our perceived existence and the illusion of safety it provides.

So we live in a collective reality defined by our fears to ease our unacknowledged terror of the multiplex dangers inherent in fluid, self determined and thus infinite wider reality. In an infinity of possibilities there will always be negative outcomes. Better to hide than face them.
We have built a sanctum that we say is the totality of existence because we are scared. We are each other’s warders in an asylum designed to preserve the sanity of the inmates.
Alternatively, long ago we looked ‘outside’ and what we saw sent us into a collective, inherent and self replicating mass delusion.

Now, it is a simple step to take the subjective reality concept into the workings or encountering of unusual phenomena. Thus a coven is merely a group of people inducing a lacuna of their reality framework within the collective reality dictated by the masses, and a UFO sighting becomes a chicken & egg scenario where you can ask did the light in the sky exist before the people below wanted it to be there? And so on…
